An astonishingly great interview!

Your note about the logic of insurance applied to inequality/variance got me thinking that the Self-Interested Voter Hypothesis suggests that men should be more favorable toward redistribution. My understanding is that the opposite is the case.

Most wealth redistribution goes to women. Able bodied men qualify for little assistance, and what they do qualify for certainly isn't enough to attract a mate. If anything the state as sugar daddy makes the bottom 1/2 of men pointless to women.

It has always been thus. What were top men doing with their wealth? Providing for (their) women.

For most young or youngish men, it's much easier to delude yourself that you're going to end up extremely wealthy than that you'll end up taller, handsomer or much better at basketball or guitar than you are. I see the evopsych prediction being that modern men without other two-sigma signs of high mate value would tend to oppose wealth redistribution.

Big fan of Chris! His story is interesting to me, because he was in Love Island in the UK, and listening to him you wouldn’t think his fame came from the most vapid source you can possibly imagine.

He’s got the same kind of appeal as Rogan (who I’m also generally a fan of for entertainment), but his show overall is considerably smarter.
