Does Fraser consider access to drugs a measure of economic freedom, as Milton Friedman did? I think not. So, it's possible for a country to have a high freedom rating while imprisoning people for purchasing intoxicants they want to ingest. Freedom indices are deeply flawed.
I've found that this kind of debate (not in this case, but generally) is usually a cipher for other disagreements. Naziism WAS somewhat socialist (so are we)... but modern socialists are usually much more concerned with cultural issues. On that score they're completely, explicitly ANTI-Nazi.
